Grønne kaffe bønner er rå, uristede kaffebønner som indeholder op til 50% af deres vægt i klorogensyre. Men denne unikke egenskab går tabt under ristningen, som har til formål at omdanne disse bønner til drikkelige kaffebønner.

Summary of human study weight loss results:

On a recent study published in January 2012 in the the Diabetes, Metabolic Syndrome and Obesity journal, adults taking either 700 or 1050mg a day of green coffee bean extract lost lost on average 18lbs, which was 10% of their overall body weight and 4.4% of their body fat.

The Dr Oz show also conducted a test under the guidance of experts including Dr Caroline Apovian and registered dietician Kristin Kirkpatrick, to see if green coffee extract was effective in real life. They enlisted 100 women, between the ages of 35 and 49 and they were instructed to take 400mg capsules 3 times a day.
After two weeks, the group of women taking green coffee extract lost on average twice as much weight as the other group taking a placebo (2lbs vs 1lb).

Randomized, double-blind, 12-week study investigated the effect of 200mg daily of Green Coffee Extract on the body mass of 30 overweight people, compared with normal instant coffee. Comparative, randomized, double-blind, 4- week study on 62 healthy volunteers using instant coffee enriched with 180mg chlorogenic acid compared with normal instant coffee show that the average losses in weight in the chlorogenic acid enriched coffee was 1.35kg versus 0.12kg
