Product Description

Montmorency cherries and beetroot are antioxidant rich superfoods, which have been studied intensively for their unique health properties.

Lets look into why you should add these to your diet today:

Montmorency tart cherries: The Anthocyanin and Antioxidant superfood

Montmorency cherries (Prunus cerasus), are a species of tart cherries native to the USA, Canada and France.

Named after the Montmorency area of France, this unique cherry variety has one of the highest ORAC antioxidant values (47,000 per 100g powder), and is one of the richest sources of Anthocyanins.

Early studies have found that Anthocyanins may have anti-inflammatory properties, and in particular tart cherries inhibits enzymes called cyclooxygenase-1 and -2 which may help lower uric acid levels and C-reactive protein which has made it popular with gout

[1] and osteoarthritis[2] suffers.

Early studies have also found that these unique properties may benefit athletes, and muscle recovery post workout[3].

You can find out more about the benefits of Montmorency tart cherries in our in-depth report here.

Beetroot: Rich in Nitrate & betalains

Beetroot, also known as Beets, is a sweet vegetable which became popular as early as Roman times for its health benefits.

With a unique taste you will either love or hate, it features a rich nutrient profile containing carbohydrates, protein, as well as soluble fibre, potassium, magnesium, iron, vitamins A, B6 and C, folic acid, and antioxidants.

But what has excited researchers are Beetroot’s naturally occurring nitrates, which are converted into nitric oxide as well as Betaine, Betalain and Betalin which are unique to Beetroots.

A review of 16 of studies testing the effectiveness of beetroot and inorganic nitrate found consumption associated with a decrease in systolic blood pressure. These results prompted the British Heart Foundation to fund its own study on juice which found similar results.

According to the British Heart Foundation, “The level of reduction was similar to that from some forms of blood pressure medication. No adverse side effects were observed in people taking the daily dose of nitrates, in the form of beetroot juice.”

Beetroot’s high nitrate content, and interaction with nitric oxide in the body has also caught the attention of sports enthusiasts and athletes following studies which found that consumption of beetroot was linked to improved exercise performance[4].

You can find out more about the benefits of Beetroot in our in-depth report here.

Get the equivalent of 2500mg of Montmorency cherry powder and 2500mg of beetroot powder per daily serving (2 capsules)

In the clinical studies, Montmorency cherry and beetroot was found to be most effective taken daily, in concentrated dosages. As a result, we concentrated Montmorency cherry and beetroot extract, as well as powder to provide the equivalent of 2500mg of each nutrient per daily serving (2 capsules).

Make sure to avoid lower quality supplements which compensate by adding fillers or other ingredients to fill up their capsules and reduce their costs.

Clinical Studies: Key Findings from the Montmorency cherry and beetroot studies

According to Montmorency cherry early studies:

  • Montmorency cherries are rich in Antioxidants, and in particular Anthocyanins[5]
  • Gout and osteoarthritis have been linked to high uric acid levels and inflammation[6].
  • Consuming tart cherries may have a positive effect on uric acid levels and CRP, a marker of inflammation[7]
  • Montmorency cherry juice may benefit muscle recovery post workout[8]

According to Beetroot early studies:

  • Consumption of beetroot and inorganic nitrate daily may promote a decrease in systolic blood pressure[9]
  • Consumption of beetroot juice may be beneficial to stamina, performance, and recovery during and after exercise[10].

You can find out more about these studies by clicking on our clinical studies tab.
